Why mycorrhizae is so important to cover crops

I don't regularly read Mother Earth News but this is a great article on the importance of fostering mycorrhizae in our soils- and cover crops play an important role!

The scientist mentioned, David Douds, did quite a bit of research on my farm and is who introduced the mycorrhizal underground world to me.

With proper management, reduced fertilizer applications can be achieved.

How that benefit is achieved continues to be a work in progress, but certainly using no tillage and mycorrhizal friendly grass cover crops are the foundation to build off.

Then we'll be able to lower our cost of production and profit margins will increase.

We need to turn our attention to the biological processes under our feet!
